Scorecard Summary Credit cards’ ubiquitous acceptance globally gives it the highest acceptance score while omnichannel and recurring payment capabilities, among others, suggest credit cards provide consumers with a good user experience. The lack of brand risk for merchants to accept credit cards and consumers’ money-back guarantee also lends credit cards to a higher security score compared to the other payment methods. However, the lack of competition within the payment method on the merchant side and high interest rates on debt on the consumer side are a couple of reasons credit cards receive a lower cost score. Lastly, credit cards received a low governance score, which could be due to a few factors: on a global scale, credit card regulation is lacking for merchants and credit cards and have an unbalanced governance structure.
