Scorecard Summary While there is some news around cashless societies, cash remains strong in comparison to other payment methods available to merchants. Cash’s strong governance in most countries globally leads the way. It also scores best on cost, showing its provision of low costs for both consumers and merchants. Cash is still accepted in most in-store environments lending to a higher acceptance score; however, cash-on-delivery options for ecommerce transactions are not as common. Cash has a lower security score than other payment method options given a lack of an error resolution framework and high consumer fraud risk. The user experience is also lower than others; this could be attributed to the lack of flexibility for recurring payments and omnichannel capabilities.
