Authorization/Pre-Authorization Card payments easily allow merchants to have flexibility in the authorization amount. This is ideal for hospitality merchants, like airlines and hotels, because they can authorize the transaction at an earlier date than the charge occurring. Recurring Payments It is possible for pass-through digital wallet to vault credentials on file allowing them to be used for recurring payments. However, this may not be feasible for all.

Refunds are handled by the underlying payment method used in a pass-through digital wallet. Omnichannel Digital wallets can be accessed through a variety of mediums, including smartphones, smartwatches, smart fitness trackers, mobile apps on smart “connected” devices, and via apps or web browsers. Smart devices use a variety of technology mediums to connect digital wallets to a point of sale and/or purchasing environment. Such technologies include near-field communication (NFC), magnetic stripe emulation (MST), Bluetooth (BLE), QR codes scans, and web-based browser or in App payments. FX/Cross-Border Global card networks are available in most countries, making card payments easy to use cross-border. However, depending on the user’s issuer, foreign exchange fees can be expensive.
